Spiritual Formation

(Scroll to the end of this page for current and special events)

Much like clay is formed in the hands of the potter, we too are formed in the hands of the Holy Spirit.  Spiritual formation is simply the work the Holy Spirit does to form or shape us.  Some simply call it spiritual growth, others may refer to it as discipleship, while others see it as becoming more like Jesus.  The Holy Spirit continues the bringing back work of Christ by working in our lives today to more fully restore His image.  We, then, have the opportunity to cooperate with His purposes in our lives, in the lives of one another, and in all of creation.

Our desire at Jenks Church is to be more aware of the Holy Spirit in our lives and in the world around us.  From devotional guides, to a labyrinth walk, to Small Groups, we offer various activities to engage in spiritual formation.  Be sure to check the calendar and events pages for current and upcoming activities.  Everyone is welcome!

Adult Bible Fellowship

All adults are invited and encouraged to participate in Bible Fellowship classes at 10:15 AM each Sunday. A variety of classes are offered throughout the year and are designed to contribute to the spiritual formation of the individual. Some class sessions are intergenerational, others are by topic and still others are offered according to life stages. In this way participants are able to gain wisdom and insight from a variety of different voices. Jenks Church is blessed to have gifted teachers willing to be part of the ongoing spiritual formation process.  To view the Bible class brochure click here.

The ongoing process of spiritual formation in the life of one who follows Jesus is accomplished through surrender and dedication. To manage life and create time for the specific purpose of considering the way of God can be challenging and yet the reward is life changing. The sacred writings reveal the movements of God to be much like air and water. Discernable but not visable. Fluid and refreshing. Both essential to life. To connect with God is to be sustained. To commune with God is to live expectantly. Join our family this fall in a divine pursuit. Opening fellowship is at 6:45 pm each evening.

Fall Wednesday Classes

Men: So Easy Cave Men Can Do It (Achieving a healthy understanding Scripture really is possible)
Women: The Forgotten God (Reversing Our Tragic Neglect of the Holy Spirit)

Cloud of Witnesses

The "Cloud of Witnesses" or "The Cloud" as it is most often referred to is an online Prayer Support Group comprised of  Jenks Church friends and family. Prayer requests are continuously posted and hundreds of individuals join together to influence God through the power of prayer. Some members of this community post written responses to "The Cloud", others choose simply to pray for the specific request. Specific prayers are requested at all times of the day and night knowing that "The Cloud" is  prayerfully and humbly approaching the Father and asking for his divine intervention. To become part of "The Cloud" prayer community please contact Lynessa Yeats.

Small Groups

A significant aspect of Spiritual Formation occurs within a fellowship or community of likeminded believers who gather on a consistent basis to study, pray, fellowship and consider God together. Jenks Church Small Groups includes LifeLines that meet throughout the year, Community Groups that meet at specified times during the year, and Renovare' Spiritual Formation Groups that are able to be formed at any time by interested individuals. Groups meet at a variety of times and places convenient to group members. Please contact the Church Office, for more information regarding the Small Groups Ministry.

Community Groups are an opportunity for Jenks Church family and friends:

  • To be part of newly forming small groups of 8-10 adults
  • To interact and fellowship with existing LifeLines
  • To meet and visit with our Jenks Church elders
  • To allow children to participate in Kidz Klub

Sessions are from 6:00 - 7:30 PM each Sunday and the next session will be in October. Community Groups begin with a worship devotional followed by individual group gatherings. Each session includes Bible study, fellowship and prayer creating opportunities for group members to interact and enjoy time together. So...mark your calendars, plan to participate and commit to connect! Belonging is a deeply held Jenks Church value. To register by email Click Here or call 918.299.2713.
